General Nguyen Trong Nghia appointed Chief of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army

Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, was appointed as Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army and promoted from Senior Lieutenant General to General.

This morning, President Luong Cuong presided over the ceremony to announce and hand over the decision to appoint the position of Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army and to hand over the decision to promote the military ranks of General and Senior Lieutenant General to the People’s Army officers.

The President appointed Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, to hold the position of Director of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People’s Army, and promoted him from Senior Lieutenant General to General.

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, President Luong Cuong congratulated Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia on his appointment as Director of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People’s Army, and promoted him to General; and two Deputy Ministers of National Defense Nguyen Van Gau and Le Duc Thai were promoted to Senior Lieutenant General.

The President affirmed that this is the recognition and high appreciation of the Party, State, Central Military Commission and people for the great contributions and dedication of the cadres in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. According to the President, this is also the joy, honor and pride of the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, all cadres and soldiers of the Vietnam People’s Army, individuals, families and homeland.

The three generals are excellent cadres of the Party, State and People’s Army; all received basic, systematic training, and matured from units and bases; were trained and tested through many different positions, fields and working environments.

According to the President, regardless of the conditions and circumstances, the cadres always show that they are cadres with steadfast political will, pure revolutionary ethics, exemplary, dedicated, responsible, always completing well and excellently all assigned tasks…

The President emphasized that the world and regional situation is forecast to continue to develop very complicatedly, peace, cooperation and development are still the main trends, but are facing unprecedented challenges; strategic competition between major countries is becoming increasingly fierce.

Domestically, after nearly 40 years of renovation, our country has achieved great and historic achievements, but is also facing many difficulties and challenges, hostile forces, political opportunists have intensified sabotage activities with increasingly sophisticated and direct plots and tricks. Non-traditional security challenges, especially natural disasters, epidemics, and climate change, are evolving very complicatedly.

The President asked cadres to continue promoting the glorious tradition of the heroic Vietnam People’s Army, the qualities of “Uncle Ho’s soldiers”; continue to preserve revolutionary ethics, be absolutely loyal to the Party, the Fatherland and the people; unite and be closely attached to cadres, soldiers and the people; continue to study, cultivate, and train to always be worthy of being a talented, exemplary leader and commander, striving to overcome difficulties and challenges, and excellently completing all tasks entrusted to him by the Party, the State, and the people…

On behalf of the cadres who have been appointed and promoted to military ranks, General Nguyen Trong Nghia expressed his deep gratitude to the Party and the State, directly the Central Executive Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the Central Military Commission for their constant attention, leadership, direction, training, assignment, training, and testing; the Central departments, comrades, teammates, colleagues, and the people have always paid attention, helped, coordinated, and created all conditions for the successful completion of tasks.

General Nguyen Trong Nghia vows to always be exemplary in perception and action; to be absolutely loyal and maintain the four unchangeable principles in Party building and military building; always receptive to learning, striving to build a strong political stance, revolutionary ethical standards of cadres and party members, and the noble qualities of “Uncle Ho’s soldiers”.

He also said that he will maintain solidarity, discipline, order, improve leadership and direction capacity with the spirit of innovation, dare to think, dare to do, dare to take responsibility, and fulfill duties and tasks well.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia was born in 1962, hometown Dong Thap province.

He is a member of the 13th Politburo; Secretary of the 13th Party Central Committee; member of the 12th and 13th Party Central Committee; National Assembly delegate of the 14th and 15th terms.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia has decades of service in the Army.

In September 2012, he was appointed Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army. In February 2021, he became Head of the Central Propaganda Department. In February this year, after the merger of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission and the Central Mass Mobilization Commission, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia was assigned to be the Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission.

The General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army is in charge of Party and political work in the entire army, operating under the leadership of the Secretariat and directly and regularly under the Central Military Commission. The General Department of Politics has a Director, Deputy Directors and functional departments responsible for organization, personnel, propaganda, military security protection, policy, mass mobilization, etc.
