Ba Ho
That is certainly a rare image in more than a decade at Hanoi FC. But this has to happen when Van Quyet is 34 years old.
In the 1-2 defeat against Ninh Binh FC, Hanoi FC continued to leave Van Quyet on the bench in the first half and only brought him on the field in the second half of the match. That is a signal that this veteran striker is no longer the top priority choice in the capital team’s squad.

In the 2025/2026 season, Van Quyet has participated in 6 matches, including 5 matches in the V.League and 1 match in the National Cup. In the last three rounds, he was only a starter once and also left the field after 45 minutes. In the remaining two matches, the player born in 1991 was only used from the 70th minute onwards.
After 6 matches, Van Quyet has not scored any goals, only 1 assist. That number partly reflects the current situation, Van Quyet’s performance is declining, the competition for positions is increasingly fierce and the trend of rejuvenating the squad that Hanoi FC is implementing.
At the age of 34, Van Quyet still maintains professionalism and effort in training. However, the fact that he is no longer the “flag bearer” as before is a reality that this veteran striker must accept, in the journey of generational transition at Hanoi FC.

In the past, Van Quyet grew up from the The Cong training center, he spent most of his career contributing to Hanoi FC, where he and the team dominated the domestic arena with 5 V.League championships, 3 National Cups and 4 National Super Cups. He is one of the greatest contributors in the history of the capital team, symbolizing professionalism, dedication and aspiration to rise.
At the national team level, Van Quyet debuted for the Vietnam national team in 2011 and has been a familiar face for more than a decade. With 18 goals, he is currently ranked 5th in the list of greatest strikers in the history of the Vietnam team.
